Grieve Cabinet Oven Cures Long Composite Parts

Grieve’s No. 1005 is an electrically heated, 350ºF (~177ºC) cabinet oven used for curing long composite parts held in fixtures. Workspace dimensions are 108” × 18” × 18”. The unit features 15kW installed in incoloy-sheathed tubular elements to heat the unit, while a 1,000-cfm, 1-hp recirculating blower provides horizontal airflow across the load.

The unit has 4”-insulated walls with an aluminized steel exterior; Type 304 2B stainless steel interior; motor-operated vertical lift door; 8” × 10” double pane Pyrex window for viewing the load; interior oven light; and a tower light to indicate oven status.

Safety equipment required for handling flammable solvents includes motorized dampers on the intake and exhaust for accelerated cooling; a 29” × 25” × 4” thick pleated fresh air filter; and a photohelic pressure gauge with alarm to monitor internal oven pressure. The company says there is also a digital programming temperature controller with tamper-proof cover, strip chart recorder and fused disconnect switch.
