HMG Paints (Manchester, England) has added 70 new metallic colors to its HMG ColorBase Color Box. The new metallic colors are available in a range of HMG products and are said to be ideal for industries such as commercial vehicle, agriculture and construction equipment, amongst others.

The new range provides enhanced color matching capability and uses HMG’s existing Unit Lite colorants. The new colors are available via an update to ColorBase, HMG’s color formulation software which reportedly includes over 90,000 colors.

The ColorBase Color Box contains over 2,400 color chips, displayed in chromatic order within 20 fan decks. According to HMG, the ColorBase Color Box is a multi-function tool, meaning that each color not only has a chromatic code that identifies its position in the color sequence, but also corresponds to a color existing on the market for reference.

HMG says the ColorBase Color Box is already being used by U.K. vehicle fleets, which are making use of the high-gloss, high-solids acrylic polyurethane coating developed to meet and exceed the stringent requirements of the commercial vehicle market.

“The new metallic shades combine popular metallics from ranges such as RAL and leading commercial vehicle OEM’s along with the industry expertise of our color team who have developed new shades that offer chromatic continuity,” says Danny Cleary, HMG’s sales director. “Having these colors available in the Color Box carry case means that representatives can match out on site and have depots produce the color almost immediately across a number of HMG systems.”
